Matthew Lawrence Pwajok was born in Jos, Plateau State, of Nigeria on Christmas Day 25th
December 1968. He obtained his first degree in Accountancy in 1992 from the University of Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, with a B.Sc. Honors, and subsequently obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, in 2000.
He had all his working experience in the aviation industry where he started his career as an Air Traffic Control Assistant on 22nd December 1986.
He obtained his Diploma in Air Traffic Control from the prestigious Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, in 1994 and also obtained a Diploma in Terminal Approach Radar Control in 2006 from ATNS Academy, Johannesburg, South Africa, and a Diploma in Area Radar Control in
2007 from PANAM International Flight Academy, Miami, Florida, USA.
He also obtained a Private Pilot License (PPL) in 2011 from Airborne Systems Flight School, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. Additionally, in the course of his career, he obtained all five (5) Air Traffic Control Ratings in Aerodrome, Approach, Terminal Approach Radar, Area Airways Procedural Control and Area Radar Control Ratings (A, B, C, D and E ATC Ratings).
Pwajok was appointed the General Manager Safety Management System as well as the Technical Adviser to the then Managing Director/CE of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency from January 2015 to 23rd February 2017.
On 23rd February 2017, he was appointed the General Manager Air Navigation Standards with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority until 12th December 2018.
Furthermore, he was appointed the Director of Operations with the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) on 12th December 2018, where he retired on 22nd December 2021, after 35 years of service.
On 7th January 2022, he was appointed Acting Managing Director/CE, of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency. A position he held until 30th May 2023 when a substantive Managing Director was appointed and he was reappointed as Director of Operations, NAMA.
